Tech Web SA (front-end developer) for Teaching & Learning Services Support Team

Are you interested in ensuring a website runs flawless and looks good on every device? Do you have
an eye for detail and experience with CSS, JS and HTML? This might be the job for you! We are looking for students to contribute to the Teaching Support website (http://www.tudelft.nl/teaching-support). This website is an important resource for educational staff to find answers to their education-related questions.

Our department
You will be working at Teaching & Learning Services Support (TLS Support). TLS Support is the
helpdesk for Teaching Support. Our goal is to support educational staff in providing the best possible
education. We are the first line for educational staff with questions about Brightspace and other
educational applications used at the TU Delft (e.g. Ans, Vevox, Turnitin) as well as other services that
our department Teaching & Learning Services offers (e.g. didactic consultation, online learning, and
training). We are working to expand partnerships with other departments so that educational staff
can quickly and easily reach the right place with their education-related question or request. We
either answer questions directly or refer staff to the right place.

Your role
As a Technical Web Student Assistant, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of
the Teaching Support website. We use Typo3 as a content management system, which is used for
most TU Delft websites. Many functionalities are implemented and maintained by a central team
that is responsible for typo3; but by tinkering within typo3 settings, CSS, HTML and JS we are able to
make adjustments. We make changes in collaboration with many stakeholders. You will work closely
with the TLS Support web team to ensure the website remains user-friendly, accessible, and up to
date.

Job description
• Maintaining and testing existing functionality built with CSS/HTML/JS.
• Developing new functionalities on the website using CSS/HTML/JS.
• Making layout changes with CSS/HTML/JS.
• Identifying and resolving front-end issues.
• Improving the accessibility of the website for users.
• Writing and maintaining technical and user documentation.

Job requirements
• Bachelor or Master students with at least one year remaining at TU Delft.
• Minimum of 45 ECTS obtained.
• Availability 4 to 8 hours a week.
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JS.
• Accurate, flexible, able to work proactively and constructively.
• Able to communicate clearly and professionally.
• Proficient in English, Dutch is preferred.
• Experience with UX/UI and Graphic design skills is preferred.
• Affinity with web analytics is preferred.

Important details
You will be appointed as Support Assistant at the department Teaching & Learning Services. You will be employed through FlexDelft. FlexDelft works in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) for universities. This means your pay will depend on what the CAO for universities states.
You will always be working together with, and have backup from, experienced TU Delft colleagues.
After the 3-month probation period, our Student Assistants generally stay with us for at least a year
but often much longer. Our office is situated in the TU Delft TLS office (IDE Building). Your shifts will
either be full or half days during office hours: 9.00-13.00, 13.00-17-00 or 9.00-17.00.
