Description

Master Thesis: Developing a Sustainability Assessment  Framework for Non-Profit Organizaons

How can non-profit organizaons navigate the overwhelming array of sustainability soluons to  choose measures that actually fit their unique circumstances? While countless environmental  technologies and pracces exist - from LED retrofits to rainwater harvesng systems - non-profits  oen struggle to idenfy which soluons align with their limited budgets, volunteer workforce, and  operaonal constraints. This challenge drives the need for a systemac approach to characterize and  evaluate sustainability measures based on their implementaon properes and suitability for  different organizaonal contexts.

This master thesis, supervised in partnership with YAGHMA B.V. (a Del-based consultancy  specializing in technology assessment), offers you the opportunity to create praccal impact in the  sustainability field. You'll develop a comprehensive taxonomy for assessing and priorizing  environmental measures specifically designed for non-profit organizaons and validate it for a  diverse set of sustainability soluons.

What You'll Do:

∙ Analyze scienfic and grey literature on sustainability pracces specifically for non-profits  and sports clubs to understand current approaches and gaps

∙ Conduct a systemac review of exisng frameworks and taxonomies used for esmang  sustainability soluon’s suitability across different sectors

∙ Design a detailed sustainability soluons taxonomy that characterizes environmental  measures by key properes - such as implementaon costs, payback periods, technical  complexity, maintenance requirements, environmental impact potenal, space  requirements, and compability constraints - enabling non-profit organizaons to idenfy  soluons that match their needs, constraints, and capabilies

∙ Test and refine your taxonomy through feedback from real non-profit organizaons in  YAGHMA's network

∙ Concentrate primarily on energy efficiency, water conservaon, and biodiversity measures,  with oponal integraon of social sustainability dimensions based on your interests

What You'll Gain:

∙ Experience in sustainability consulng and framework development

∙ Direct industry collaboraon and networking opportunies

∙ Skills in taxonomy design and validaon methodologies

∙ Praccal knowledge applicable to the growing ESG consulng market

This thesis combines theorecal rigor with real-world applicaon, posioning you at the intersecon  of sustainability science and organizaonal management. For more informaon, please contact Rie at  rbl@yaghma.nl.
