Description

Student Assistant Position until summer

Bring Your Data Mining Skills into Practice
and Help Shape the Future of Mobility

Twelve professors from six faculties have joined forces to create the TU Delft
Mobilisers, a think tank dedicated to developing sustainable and inclusive
transportation solutions for people and goods, aiming to secure a brighter future for all.
We are developing transformative scenarios for future mobility and transportation
landscapes. These scenarios will guide TU Delft's research agenda and educational
activities in transport and mobility.

We are seeking a Dutch-speaking student assistant with a passion for data and a keen
interest in the mobility of people and goods to help us define a future desired mobility
system for the Netherlands.

Your primary responsibilities will include extracting relevant information from reports,
documents, and online sources. In cases where data is lacking, you will be expected to
identify new sources and proactively engage with TU Delft mobility researchers to
utilize their research findings.

The workload will be approximately two days per week until summer. We will organize
several working sessions with 3-4 Mobilisers to discuss your findings and transform
information into insights. Outside these pre-scheduled sessions, you will have the
flexibility to determine your own work schedule and location.

Way of Working:

  • Detailed briefing: In-person meeting with 2-3 Mobilisers.
  • Two weeks dedicated to reading reports and extracting data.
  • Working session with 3-4 Mobilisers to discuss initial findings and explore desired formats for capturing data and insights.
  • Ongoing data finding and analysis, with bi-weekly (online) meetings with Mobilisers to review progress. Longer sessions can be arranged as needed.
  • Optional: join the Mobilisers' workshops on May 15 and June 10.
  • Half-day working session with 2-4 Mobilisers before summer to review results.

Criteria:

  • Fluent in Dutch.
  • Available for two days per week until summer (hours can be scheduled flexibly).
  • Proficient in data analysis.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel; basic knowledge of R and/or Python is a plus.
